Meredith Salenger

Salenger grew up in Malibu. She enjoyed performing for her loved ones and relatives as young children. Her mom took her to her first class in acting when she was 8 years old. The John Huston directed film Annie, she played a tiny role where she was classified as a "singing and dancing orphan". Salenger also did a number of television advertisements. Her first role as a lead actor was on the Disney production The Journey of Natty Gann costarring John Cusack and Ray Wise The film was the first US film to be awarded the coveted gold prize in the Moscow Film Festival. She also won "Best Female actor in a drama" at the Youth in Film Awards in the recognition of her character as the charming Natty. In addition, she appeared in four movies before turning aged 18.
